- The
installation process should have completed automatically.
However, if there were problems, you can complete the process
by following the steps given here.
- Remove any previous wxls32.ini files:
If you have a previously installed version of ViSta, you must
remove (or rename) the wxls32.ini file. For Win95 and Win98 this
is in the C:\Windows directory. For WinNT it is in the C:\WinNT
directory.
- Windows 95 or NT: Install the monotype.com font:
Install the monotype.com Font (double click the mtcom32.exe
file , read the agreement, click yes, and then click OK -- now
the font is installed). This font is a freely redistributable
font developed by Microsoft
Typography. It has been supersceeded by Andale Mono Font,
however, in one small but annoying way, I do not find Andale to
be as readable (the 0's look like 8's), and I have reverted to
monotype.com.
- Configure ViSta.
Double click on ViSta.exe. You should see a series of dialog
boxes, followed by the flying ViSta logo. If not read the
Problems page for help.
You may see a dialog box presenting the choice of choosing
a custom or a standard installation.
- Standard
Installation: Choosing Standard Installation will perform
an installation having the following characteristics.
- Directories:
ViSta will use directories located within the folder containing
ViSta, including your USER folder, which will be the default
place to contain results and datafiles. Choose Custom
Installation if you wish to locate your USER folder elsewhere.
- Start
Menu: A program group will be created that allows
you run ViSta from the START menu.
- Windows:
Window size and location will be remembered across sessions.
- Fonts:
The andale font will be used.
- Custom
Installation: ViSta will present another dialog
box that allows you to change the defaults used for Standard
Installation.
Click
"OK" in the next dialog box to quit. ViSta is now installed.
ViSta may tell you to quit and re-run ViSta (or it may do that
itself). If so double click the Vista icon. ViSta should run,
showing you the flying logo and developer credits while it loads
files. It should then show you the standard windows, plus Welcome
and Initial Help windows.
